Love and attention
Robert and Diane Parrish sit with their 8-year-old son Stuart, who has autism, at their home in Peoria. The Parrish's have spent the past year setting up a local chapter of the Autism Society of America in Peoria to help other families cope with the difficulties of raising a child with autism. The Parrish's claim their success with Stuart, who is on grade level and attends school without an aide, is due to working with him on his level and building from there. DAVID ZENTZ/JOURNAL STAR
