Wishing for Independence
Jake Grys, 7, who has dwarfism brought on by a rare form of osteogenesis imperfecta, or brittle bone disorder, sits on his living room floor nearby his motorized cart he uses to get around, at home in Pekin Tuesday afternoon. At 7-years of age Jake is less than 30-inches tall and cannot walk, making most of the home inaccessible to him. Recently, the TV show Extreme Home Makeover has expressed interest in helping the family remodel their home so Jake can be more independent. DAVID ZENTZ/JOURNAL STAR
